LW1517IVSM
LG LW1517IVSM Window Unit, 14,000 BTU Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Compressor drive and control board
- Fan noise and speed changes
- ThinQ connection
- Coil and filter loading
- Drain flow and window support
A legacy LG model, the LW1517IVSM is an older window air conditioner rated 14,000 BTU for an estimated 800 square feet. LG describes energy savings up to 25 percent, LoDecibel quiet operation and ThinQ technology.
We see this class of unit in large bedrooms and open living rooms. A visit begins with the window support, the filter and the coil, followed by the fan and the compressor start. Because the unit is built for quiet, small noises stand out, so we listen for a loose blower wheel or a rattling cabinet. We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering, and you approve a written price before we start work.

Error codes this model can show
Why is my quiet unit suddenly loud?
A loose fan blade, a dirty blower wheel or vibration against the window frame is the usual cause. We find the source, since replacing the wrong part would not help.
Does the energy saving claim depend on upkeep?
The listing says up to 25 percent. A clean coil and filter help any unit reach its best efficiency, so those are part of every service visit.
Can an older ThinQ unit still be controlled by app?
Often yes, depending on the unit and your network. If it will not connect, we check the unit at its own panel and the Wi-Fi hardware.
