What CH03 means
CH03 applies to LG ceiling-mounted air conditioners that use a wired remote control. It means the unit has a problem talking to that wired remote: the remote itself, the wiring that carries its signal, or the main circuit board. The owner sees CH03 on the remote screen, and the controls may stop responding or the unit may not start from the remote. Liquids and dust reaching the wired remote are worth avoiding, because they can disturb the signal.
Common causes of CH03
- Wired remote that has lost its link to the unit
- Remote wiring with a loose or damaged connection
- Main circuit board input that reads the remote
- Moisture or dust at the wired remote
1. Switch the unit's circuit breaker off. 2. Wait about five minutes and turn it back on. 3. Keep liquids and dust away from the wired remote, and wipe only the outside of it with a dry cloth. 4. If CH03 shows up again, leave the unit off and arrange service.
- After the reset, we test whether the wired remote talks to the control board at all.
- We check the remote wiring for damage before replacing anything.
- If the remote works but the board does not, we explain that and quote it in writing.
Other Room Air Conditioner codes
Is CH03 about the cooling system?
No. It points to the wired remote link, meaning the remote, its wiring, or the main board that reads it. The cooling parts are not named by this code.
Can spilled water cause CH03?
Liquids and dust on the wired remote are things to keep away from it. We look for moisture inside the remote and at its wiring connection when we test.
Why does a breaker reset sometimes clear it?
A short power interruption lets the control board restart its link with the remote. If the link does not come back, the remote, the wiring, or the board needs testing.
Still seeing CH03?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
