What Lamp Does Not Light means
The lamp behavior described here is normal operation and has no error code attached. It explains why the lamp does not light on LG air conditioners that show CH codes, mainly ceiling-mounted units with a wired remote. The filter alarm lamp lights 2,400 hours after the unit starts and goes out about 50 hours later. After you turn the unit off, the lamp is simply not lit, and the owner sometimes thinks it failed. The timer simply has not reached the alarm point, or it has just passed it.
Common causes of Lamp Does Not Light
- Filter alarm timer has not yet reached 2,400 hours
- Alarm time has passed and the lamp already went out
- Alarm not reset after the last cleaning
1. Clean the filter on your normal schedule, whether or not the lamp is lit. 2. After cleaning, reset the alarm by pressing Cancel Reservation or Set-Release three times. 3. Check that the lamp then behaves as expected, dark now and lit again much later. 4. Keep a note of the date you reset it so the next reminder makes sense.
- If the lamp stays off when it should be lit, we check the lamp circuit and the timer on the control board.
- We confirm the remote buttons register your reset.
- The result is explained to you first, and any repair is priced in writing.

When does the filter lamp turn on?
It lights 2,400 hours after the unit starts and goes out about 50 hours later. Between those points the lamp stays dark, which is completely normal behavior for this reminder.
How do I reset the alarm?
Press Cancel Reservation or Set-Release three times on the wireless remote. This restarts the filter timer, so do it right after you have cleaned the filter.
Should I clean the filter only when the lamp lights?
No. Cleaning it every couple of weeks in heavy use keeps airflow steady and cooling strong. The lamp is only a reminder based on running hours, not a measure of dirt.
