What CH means
On LG dehumidifiers, CH on the display means the unit has detected a refrigerant leak. The refrigerant circuit is the sealed system that cools the coil and pulls moisture out of the air, so a leak means the dehumidifier cannot dry the room the way it should. The machine stops and holds the code. This is different from the numbered CH01, CH02 and CH03 codes, which point to electronics. There are no owner steps that clear a leak, and the sealed system is not something to open.
Common causes of CH
- Refrigerant loss in the sealed system
- Leak at a coil or connection
- Detection circuit reporting a loss
1. Unplug the dehumidifier and move it away from walls and fabrics. 2. Do not tip it, open it, or try to refill anything. 3. Empty the water bucket if it holds water. 4. Keep the unit unplugged until it has been checked. 5. Call us to arrange a repair or an assessment.
- We confirm whether the code matches a real loss or a detection problem.
- If the sealed system is leaking, we explain whether repair makes sense before any work, with the price in writing first.
- Older or low-cost units can cost more to open than they are worth, and we will tell you plainly.
Can I recharge the dehumidifier myself?
No. The refrigerant circuit is sealed and needs specialized handling. Do not open the unit or try to add anything to it. Keep it unplugged and have it assessed.
Is it dangerous to keep it plugged in?
We would unplug it. The unit cannot do its job with a leak, and running it gains nothing. Unplugging is the careful choice until someone has inspected the sealed system.
Is the repair worth it?
It depends on the unit and where the loss is. We give you a written price before any work, and if replacement makes more sense, we say so. Our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.
Still seeing CH?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
