LMV1680ST
LG LMV1680ST Over-the-Range Microwave Service

Most common issues on this model
- Turntable activation and motor
- Vent fan and cooktop light
- Heat output
- Door switches
- Melt/soften setting results
Dual distribution technology, a premium stainless steel finish and a melt/soften setting mark the LMV1680ST, a legacy over-the-range microwave. It was also sold in black and white versions.
Turntable activation is the one feature to note: if it stops turning, food heats unevenly. We check the motor, coupler and ring. The fan and lights get heavy use over a stove, so they are second on our list.
A written price comes before work. The label confirms the model before we order. Because it hangs over the cooktop, we also check the cooling fan, since stove heat and grease load it heavily.

Error codes this model can show
Why is my food heating unevenly?
The turntable may have stopped turning, which leaves food heating unevenly. We check the turntable motor, the coupler and the ring first, since those are simple and inexpensive to fix.
What is the melt/soften setting?
It runs the microwave at low power so butter, chocolate or ice cream soften without melting. If it overheats, we test the power output and the control to see why low power is not holding.
Can the vent fan be replaced alone?
Usually yes. We check the fan motor and the blade, then quote the fan repair separately from any microwave work, so you pay only for the part of the unit that needs service.
