LG LW1016ER Window AC Repair

LG air conditioner

Most common issues on this model

  1. Fan speed response
  2. On/off timer operation
  3. Window seal and side panels
  4. Condensate drain at the back
  5. Filter and coil cleanliness

The LG LW1016ER is a 10,000 BTU window air conditioner with a multi-speed fan and a programmable on/off timer. It sits in a window opening, with the cooling coils inside the cabinet and the hot side outdoors.

A window unit that runs without cooling often has a dirty filter, matted coils or a poor seal around the cabinet. We start there. We then run every fan speed, set the timer and watch it start and stop, and make sure the back of the unit drains water outside instead of into the room.

Because a window unit can be removed for work on the bench or in place, we explain which suits the repair. The model and serial on the label are confirmed before ordering a part, and you receive a written price first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

LW1016ERLW1016ER questions
Does a window unit need to be taken out for service?

Not always. Filter and basic checks can be done in place, but coil, fan and drain work may need the unit removed. This 10,000 BTU unit is heavy enough that we plan any removal and refit before we begin the job.

The timer does not start my unit. What next?

We test the timer and the controls, then the fan. If the unit runs manually, the timer circuit is the likely area. The unit also has a multi-speed fan, so we check that each speed runs while we test the timer.

Why is water dripping inside the room?

Usually a blocked drain or a unit that is not tilted slightly outward. We check the pitch and the drain. Water that drips inside can also come from a heavily loaded coil, so we look at airflow and filter condition too.
