LP1214GXR
LG LP1214GXR Portable AC Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Dehumidify mode output and drain behavior
- Vent oscillation and fan sound
- Cooling versus hose length and window seal
- Filter condition
The LP1214GXR is an LG portable air conditioner rated at 12,000 BTU, with a dehumidification function rated at 1.2 pints per hour and an oscillating air vent. It is a legacy model, and the larger rating makes it a common choice for a main living area.
At that rating, the hose and window kit decide how much cooling reaches you, so we examine their fit before anything inside the unit. We then test cool and dehumidify separately and watch the vent as it sweeps.
If water is where it should not be, we trace it to the pan, the drain fitting or an unlevel base. The label is read for model and serial before we order anything, the price is written before work begins, and our 30-day workmanship warranty applies.

Error codes this model can show
What does the 1.2 pints per hour figure mean?
It is the dehumidification rating listed for this model. If the unit seems to remove less water than expected, we check the coil, the fan and humid-air flow through the filter.
Is 12,000 BTU a heating rating too?
This model is described as 12,000 BTU for cooling with a dehumidify function. We do not treat it as a heater, and we check the mode settings if you expect heat.
Why does my unit cool slowly?
Often it is the exhaust hose or a gap at the window. On units of this type we also look at the filter and fan before the sealed system.
