LP1217GSR
LG LP1217GSR 12,000 BTU LCD Portable Service
Most common issues on this model
- LCD remote and panel response
- Vent oscillation
- Cooling performance near the 400 sq. ft. rating
- Hose seal and window opening
The LP1217GSR is an LG portable air conditioner at 12,000 BTU, described as cooling up to 400 square feet. It comes with an LCD remote and an oscillating air vent. It is discontinued, but a good number are still running in large rooms and open plans.
A unit sized for a big room puts more demand on the exhaust hose, so we measure its route and look for leaks at the window panel. We then try the remote against the panel and confirm the vent sweeps through its full range.
The filter, fan and drain get a cleaning check as well. Before any part is ordered we read the model and serial from the label, and you get the price in writing. Work is backed by a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Error codes this model can show
What size space is the LP1217GSR meant for?
The stated coverage reaches 400 square feet, which suits open rooms. In larger or sunnier rooms, results will drop, and we weigh that before assuming the unit is failing.
Should the remote be replaced?
Not before testing the panel and the batteries. If the panel responds and the remote does not, then the remote is the likely cause.
Why is the unit running but the room stays warm?
On models of this type the usual causes are a leaking hose joint, a dirty filter or a weak fan. We check these first and then move to the cooling side.
