LW1815HR
LG LW1815HR 18,000 BTU Heat and Cool Window AC Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Cooling shortfall on a large room
- Heat mode output
- Compressor and capacitor start
- Fan motor speed
- Drain flow and window support
LG lists the LW1815HR, a legacy window air conditioner, at 17,500/18,000 BTU cooling and 9,800/12,000 BTU heating, with EER 11.2 and CEER 11.1 and multiple cooling and heating speeds. This is an older model that many owners still rely on.
Heavy window units put load on the window frame as well as the outlet, so we look at the support, the tilt and the drain before opening the cabinet. Inside, the checks run through filter and coil, blower, capacitor and compressor, followed by the heating side. If the room is not cooling, we compare air temperature at the vents with the room. Model and serial are copied from the label before we order a part, and the written price comes before any work.

How is this model different from the LW1814HR?
The efficiency figures differ: this one lists EER 11.2 and CEER 11.1. We use the label to be sure which unit you own before we order any part.
Is the window frame strong enough for this unit?
A large unit is heavy, so the support brackets and frame matter. We check how it sits and whether the tilt allows the drain to work.
Why does the unit cool but never heat?
The mode selector, a sensor or the heating side may be to blame. We test each one and tell you what we found before you approve any repair.
