When an LG dishwasher does nothing after you press Start, it has usually not detected something it needs: a closed latch, power, or water. A few checks cover most of it.
Work through these
- Close the door firmly. A plate or a spray-arm tip can keep the latch from engaging. Open it, move the obstruction and shut it with a firm push.
- Look for Child Lock. If the panel ignores presses, the lock may be on. Your manual shows how to turn it off.
- Check the cycle. Some models need you to select a cycle before Start. Press the cycle button, then Start.
- Check the breaker. A tripped breaker is easy to miss. Reset it once only.
- Check the water. Make sure the supply valve under the sink is open.
When the machine starts, then stops
A dishwasher can begin to fill, pause and stop if the drain is slow or the filter is clogged. Open the door and check for standing water. If there is water, clean the filter and see whether it drains. A message on the display is worth writing down exactly as shown.
What the sign cannot tell us
A dead panel might be a latch switch, a control, a door that sits out of alignment or a wiring issue. These look identical from the kitchen. Do not take the access panel off while it is plugged in or the breaker is on.
If nothing responds after you reset the breaker once, leave it off, because repeated resets can hide a short.
