What PF means
PF on an LG dishwasher means the power was cut while it was running. It is not an error. The dishwasher remembers the last operation it was doing and continues once power comes back. The display shows PF to let you know the cycle was interrupted, for example by a brief outage, a tripped breaker, or the plug being bumped. You only need to restart the cycle. If PF keeps appearing without any outage, the cause is likely in the power supply to the outlet or the plug.
Common causes of PF
- Brief power outage
- Tripped breaker or loose plug
- Power supply that drops out
1. Close the door firmly. 2. Press Start/Pause to continue the cycle. 3. Check that the dishwasher has power and that the breaker is on. 4. If PF repeats, note when it happens. 5. Call us if it keeps appearing with no outage.
- If PF repeats with steady power at the outlet, the dishwasher's own power path or control may be dropping out.
- We check the supply to the unit and the connection at the plug or junction.
- We run a cycle and watch for any interruption before we finish.
Other Dishwasher codes
Is PF a failure?
No. It tells you the power was interrupted and the dishwasher is ready to continue. Press Start/Pause and it will pick up where it left off.
What if PF keeps appearing?
Check whether other things in the kitchen lose power at the same time. If only the dishwasher does, the supply to it may be the cause, and we can test it.
Will the dishes be clean after PF?
Yes, once the cycle finishes. The dishwasher recalls the last step and continues. If the dishes look off, run a short rinse to be sure.
Still unsure about PF?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
