What nE means

The nE code on an LG dishwasher means the impeller of the Vario pump is not spinning normally. The impeller is the paddle inside the pump that pushes water around the tub. A dish or utensil that has fallen low and touches it can stop it, and that is the first thing to rule out. If nothing is touching it, the pump or its drive may be the cause. Codes can differ by model. The dishwasher stops and waits with the code on the display.

Common causes of nE

  • Dish or utensil touching the impeller
  • Vario pump impeller or motor
  • Pump wiring or control output
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cancel the cycle and let the water drain. 2. Open the door and rearrange the dishes so nothing hangs down toward the bottom of the tub. 3. Remove any small item that has fallen to the base. 4. Restart a short cycle. 5. If nE returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Once the dishes are clear, a repeat code points to the pump itself.
  • We test whether the impeller turns freely and the motor gets power.
  • We run a full wash and listen for steady pump sound before we finish.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
nEnE questions
Can dishes cause nE?

Yes. A dish or utensil touching the impeller can stop it from spinning. Rearrange the load so nothing hangs low and restart before assuming a repair is needed.

Where is the impeller?

It is inside the pump at the bottom of the tub. Do not open the filter housing to reach it. Look only at the dishes and loose items you can see.

What if nE comes back after I rearrange everything?

Then the pump or its drive is the next suspect. We test it and give you a written price before any repair. Please stop using it and let us test the pump, with the price in writing before any repair.
