What tt means
On LG refrigerators with an LED or LCD temperature display and an internal water tank, tt means the control does not detect the tank. It may be missing, not inserted correctly, or the detection sensor may be malfunctioning. If the tank is not recognized, water to the dispenser can stop and the display keeps showing tt. Models without an internal water tank do not use this code.
Common causes of tt
- A tank that is not fully seated in its position
- A tank that was removed during cleaning and left out
- A detection sensor that does not register the tank
- The wiring to the detection sensor
1. Pull the water tank out and look for anything caught on its seating surface. 2. Reinsert it firmly until it sits fully in place. 3. Close the door and wait a moment to see if tt clears. 4. If tt stays, stop using the dispenser and call us.
- If the tank is seated and tt stays, the detection sensor or its wiring is the next thing we test.
- A tank with a worn seat or fitting can fail to register, and we look at that too.
- We quote the repair in writing first, and it comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Refrigerator codes
What does tt mean on an LG refrigerator?
It means the water tank is missing, not inserted correctly, or its detection sensor is not working properly. It applies to models with an internal water tank.
How do I fix tt myself?
Reinsert the tank until it is fully seated in its place. If that does not clear the code, the detection sensor or its wiring needs a technician to test it.
Can I still use the refrigerator with tt showing?
The cooling usually keeps running, but water from the tank may stop. Do not force the tank in if it will not seat, and call us.
Still seeing tt?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
