What F1, F2 means
On LG electric and gas ranges with a numeric F-code display, F1 and F2 are listed as two separate entries with the same wording: an upper oven thermistor error. The thermistor is the temperature probe that tells the oven control how hot the upper oven is. If its reading is lost or out of range, the oven stops heating and beeps with the code on the display. The list does not say which models show F1 and which show F2.
Common causes of F1, F2
- The upper oven thermistor reading out of range
- A wire or connector at the thermistor that is loose
- A control that is not reading the probe signal
1. Press CLEAR/OFF and retry whatever you were doing. 2. If the code returns, switch the range's circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and back on. 3. Let the oven cool, then test one short bake. If F1 or F2 shows again, stop using the oven.
- The two codes share one description, so we test the probe circuit to see which reading is affected.
- A probe that reads wrong can be a part problem or a connection problem, and we find out which before replacing anything.
Other Range codes
Are F1 and F2 different problems?
They are listed as two entries with the same wording, an upper oven thermistor error. We test the probe circuit to see what each reading means on your range.
Can I keep cooking on the cooktop?
The code concerns the oven. Burners may still work, but check your display behavior. If the oven will not heat, do not rely on it until we have checked it. Burners usually run on their own controls, though we confirm that on your model.
Will the breaker reset fix it?
It can clear a one-time glitch in the probe reading. If F1 or F2 returns after the 30-second reset, we test the probe and its wiring.
