What PF means

PF on LG electric and gas ranges and wall-oven-style cooking appliances with a numeric display means power has been interrupted to the appliance. The control saw the supply drop out, so it shows PF and may stop whatever was cooking. You normally notice the clock reset or a blank oven after a storm, a tripped breaker, or a brief outage. PF can clear by itself, but a repeat means something is cutting the supply.

Range power cord, plug, or terminal connection
Control board power input

1. Press CLEAR/OFF and try cooking again. 2. If PF returns, switch the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds, then back on. 3. Check whether other appliances on the same circuit lost power or the breaker is half-tripped. 4. If PF keeps returning, stop using the range and arrange service.

! Why to stop there

After a reset we cannot tell whether the power loss came from the house wiring, the range's connection, or its control.
We check where the supply is dropping and quote the repair in writing before starting.
If the cause is in the house wiring, an electrician will need to handle that part.

PFPF questions

Is PF always caused by a power outage?

No. A real outage is the simple case, but PF can also appear when the supply is unstable. If the lights at home stayed on and PF returns, the range or its power connection needs inspection.

Do I need to reset the clock after PF?

Usually, yes. After power returns you may have to set the clock again. If the clock keeps losing time or PF reappears, we should look at the supply to the range.

Can I keep cooking with PF showing?

Clear it with CLEAR/OFF first. If the oven then runs normally, you can cook, but a repeating PF is a reason to stop and call us before it interrupts a meal or something worse.
