What F7 means
This applies to LG electric and gas ranges and wall-oven-style cooking appliances with a numeric F-code display. F7 is the display's Upper Convection Fan Error, meaning the control has found a problem in the circuit that runs the convection fan for the upper oven. You will see F7 on the display, the function you started may stop, and convection cooking in the upper cavity may not work. Results can be uneven until the circuit has been checked.
Common causes of F7
- Upper convection fan motor and its wiring connector
- Fan feedback signal returning to the oven control
- Control board output that drives the upper fan
1. Press CLEAR/OFF and try the function again. 2. If F7 comes back, switch the range's circuit breaker off for 30 seconds, then back on. 3. Let the oven cool completely, then make sure nothing is stored against the oven walls or covering the vents. 4. If the code returns after the power reset, stop using that function and book a visit.
- A power reset cannot show whether the fan motor, its wiring, or the control board is behind the code.
- We confirm which part is responsible before quoting the repair, and you see the written price before any work starts.
- A returning F7 needs a hands-on check of the upper fan circuit.

Can I still bake with F7 showing?
Some owners can use other oven functions, but anything that relies on the upper convection fan may stop or cook unevenly. Try a plain bake after the reset; if F7 reappears, stop and let us check the fan circuit.
Will turning the breaker off fix F7?
Sometimes the code clears after a 30-second breaker reset, which suggests a one-time glitch. If it returns, the fan circuit is the likely cause, and we test it so you are not replacing parts by guessing.
Does F7 mean the oven is unsafe?
F7 points to a fan circuit, not to a gas or heating hazard by itself. Still, if it keeps coming back, we recommend not using the affected function until we have inspected it, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
