What F52 means
F52 appears on LG induction and radiant cooktops and ranges with a griddle zone, and it reads Griddle Sensor Short was detected. The control sees the griddle sensor circuit as shorted. The owner sees F52, and the griddle zone may stop heating while the other zones keep working. This entry is separate from the general griddle sensor error, and it points to the sensor circuit rather than to the heating of the griddle itself.
Common causes of F52
- Griddle sensor circuit shorted
- Sensor wiring or connector damaged
- Control board input for the griddle sensor
1. Let the cooktop cool and remove any griddle plate or cookware. 2. Flip the breaker off, count to 30, and flip it back on. 3. Try the griddle zone again at a low setting. 4. If F52 returns, keep the griddle off and arrange service.
- If F52 comes back, we test the sensor circuit with the cooktop cold and the power off.
- We check the wiring and connector at the sensor.
- We quote the repair in writing before we start.
Other Cooktop codes
What is a sensor short?
The sensor circuit reads as if its two sides are connected, so the control cannot read a real temperature. That condition is what the control reports as F52.
Does F52 mean the griddle is overheating?
No. The code concerns the sensor circuit, not an overheat reading. Heating is a separate entry, F56, so we look at each one on its own.
Why switch the breaker off for 30 seconds?
A short interruption lets the control restart. If the shorted reading was momentary, the code stays away. If it returns, the circuit needs a proper test.
Still seeing F52?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
