What "7" or "L" means
This display shows up on LG air conditioners that show CH codes, and it is most common on wall-mounted units that offer a Comfort Air setting. A 7 or an L on the screen is not an error. It reports the vertical wind angle chosen for indirect airflow, where 7 is the maximum angle and L is the minimum. The unit keeps cooling normally, but the louver sits at a fixed position, so air may feel softer or be aimed higher or lower than you expected. Someone usually pressed the wind-angle button on the remote.
Common causes of "7" or "L"
- Comfort Air indirect wind selected from the remote
- Vertical louver angle changed by another button press
- Remote and display settings out of step after a battery change
1. Find the wind direction or Comfort Air button on the remote. 2. Press it until the display no longer shows 7 or L, or choose the vertical angle you prefer. 3. Hold your hand near the vents to confirm cool air is still moving.
- If the louver does not move when you change the angle, we check the louver motor drive and its connection.
- If the display keeps showing 7 or L after you leave Comfort Air, we test the remote signal and the control input.
- You see the result of our test before any repair is quoted in writing.
Other Room Air Conditioner codes
Does a 7 or an L mean my air conditioner is broken?
No. It tells you the Comfort Air wind angle is set, with 7 being the highest and L the lowest vertical angle. Cooling continues, so nothing needs repair unless the louver refuses to move when you change the setting.
Why does the air feel weaker than yesterday?
Indirect wind sends the air upward or away from you on purpose, so the room cools without a direct blast. If you want a stronger feel, change the vertical angle on the remote to a lower setting.
Can I hide the 7 or L from the display?
The character appears for as long as that wind angle is active. Choose a different vertical angle or turn Comfort Air off from the remote and the normal temperature readout comes back.
