What CH01, CH02, CH06, CH12, CH41, CH42, CH43, CH44, CH45, CH46, CH47, CH48, E1, E2, E3, E7, E8 means
Seventeen codes in this family turn up on LG air conditioners that show CH codes, whether the unit is a window, portable, wall-mounted, or ceiling-mounted model. They share one common reading: something is wrong in a temperature or pipe sensor circuit, which can mean a sensor that is loose or unplugged, a main board error, or a short electrical disturbance. No individual meaning is given for each code. F2 and F3 are sometimes listed alongside them, yet on simple room units F1 to F3 only show fan speed.
Common causes of CH01, CH02, CH06, CH12, CH41, CH42, CH43, CH44, CH45, CH46, CH47, CH48, E1, E2, E3, E7, E8
- Loose or disconnected temperature sensor plug
- Pipe sensor reading outside its expected range
- Main board input circuit for the sensor
- Temporary electrical disturbance on the power line
1. Cut power by unplugging the unit, or by switching its breaker off. 2. Leave it off for five minutes, then restore power. 3. Start the unit and see whether the code returns. 4. If it returns, stop using the unit until it has been serviced, and note which code appears so we can start from it.
- Because the display never names the sensor, we read each one against the value it should give at the room temperature we measure.
- The plugs and wiring at each sensor end are inspected first, and the main board comes last.
- We tell you what we measured and quote the repair in writing before starting.
Other Room Air Conditioner codes
Do all these codes mean the same thing?
They are covered by one shared explanation, a sensor-related problem, without a separate meaning for each code. We narrow it down by testing which sensor circuit is out of range on your unit.
Why does F2 or F3 look different on my room unit?
On simple room air conditioners, F1, F2, and F3 are fan speed indicators, not sensor alerts. If your display shows one of those during normal use, it is just reporting weak, mid, or strong airflow.
Will a power reset fix it?
A reset clears a brief electrical disturbance, and the code may stay away. If it returns, something in the sensor circuit is out of range and the unit needs a proper test.
