What dE4 means
On the LG Mini Washer, the drawer-type washer under a main washer, dE4 appears when the drawer is closed but its lock does not operate normally. The control sees a shut drawer yet cannot confirm a proper lock, so the cycle will not run. The usual owner-side cause is something wedged between the drawer and the body. On the main front-load washer and the SideKick pedestal washer, dE4 carries a different meaning, so this applies to the Mini Washer only.
Common causes of dE4
- Foreign object caught between the drawer and the main body
- Drawer pushed closed but not fully to the end
- Drawer lock that does not move or confirm as expected
- Lock confirmation signal not reaching the control
1. Open the drawer and check the gap between the drawer and the body for a foreign object, such as a sock or a small item. Remove it. 2. Push the drawer closed all the way to the end. 3. Press Start. 4. If dE4 shows again, stop using the Mini Washer and let us check the lock.
- Once the gap is clear and the drawer is seated, a returning dE4 means the lock or its confirmation needs testing, which we do on site.
- We separate a mechanical lock that sticks from a lock that works but is not reported to the control.
- You receive a written price before work starts, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Washer codes
Is dE4 the same as dE1 on this washer?
No. On the LG Mini Washer, dE1 says the drawer is not closed. dE4 says the drawer is closed but the lock does not operate normally, so the checks differ slightly.
Does dE4 mean the same on my main LG washer?
No. The main front-load washer and the SideKick pedestal washer use these characters for other messages. This page applies only to the drawer-type LG Mini Washer.
What should I look for in the gap around the drawer?
Look for a sock, a piece of clothing or any small object lodged between the drawer and the body. Remove it, push the drawer fully closed, and try Start once more.
Still unsure about dE4?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
