What dE1 means
On the LG Mini Washer, the drawer-type washer that sits under a main washer, dE1 means the drawer is not pushed in all the way. The control does not detect a fully closed drawer, so the cycle will not begin and the display holds the code. This is a Mini Washer reading only: on the main front-load washer and on the SideKick pedestal washer, the same characters mean something else. Here it points to the drawer position, not to the wash system.
Common causes of dE1
- Drawer stopped short of its fully closed position
- Laundry or a loose item sitting at the drawer edge
- Drawer closed-position sensing that does not register even when the drawer looks shut
- Drawer tracks or body catching on something
1. Pull the drawer out a few inches, then push it in firmly until it reaches the end of its travel. 2. Look along the drawer edge and the opening for a sock, towel or other item that keeps it from seating. 3. Press Start again. 4. If dE1 comes back, leave the drawer closed, stop using the Mini Washer, and let us look at it.
- A drawer that looks shut can still fail to register as closed, and only a test of the closed-position sensing shows which part of that circuit is responsible.
- We check the drawer travel and seating first, then the sensing, before anything is replaced.
- You get a written price before work begins, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Washer codes
Does dE1 mean the same thing on my main LG washer?
No. On the main front-load washer and on the SideKick pedestal washer, dE1 is a different message. This page covers only the drawer-type LG Mini Washer, where dE1 refers to the drawer not being fully closed.
I pushed the drawer shut and dE1 still shows. What now?
Pull it out slightly and push it in again until it stops, clear anything along the edge, then press Start. If the code returns, the closed-position sensing needs a hands-on check from us.
Can I keep washing small loads in the meantime?
Not while the code is on. The washer is built to refuse a cycle when it cannot confirm a closed drawer, and forcing it is not a good idea. Leave the drawer shut and schedule a visit.
Still unsure about dE1?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
