LW1215ER
LG LW1215ER Window AC with Auto Cool Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Weak cooling with a loaded coil
- Fan motor and blower noise
- Compressor start parts
- Window tilt and condensate drain
- Sensor and Auto Cool control
An older LG window air conditioner, the LW1215ER is a legacy model rated at 12,000 BTU with EER 11.3 and CEER 11.2. Three cooling and fan speeds, Auto Cool and 4-way air direction are listed, along with the LW1215HR number.
These 12,000 BTU window units are usually in a living room or large bedroom. When they underperform we begin with the filter and the coil face, because dust there is the most common cause of poor cooling. After that we test the fan on each speed, then the compressor and capacitor. Water inside the room leads us to the drain path and the angle of the unit. We verify model and serial on the label before ordering, and you approve a written price first.

Why is the CEER lower than the EER?
CEER counts standby power as well as cooling, so it comes out a little lower. Both are efficiency ratings, and they only help you compare units.
How often should the filter be cleaned?
During heavy use, every few weeks is a good habit. A clean filter protects the coil, and we check both whenever we service the unit.
Does the window tilt matter?
Yes. A slight tilt toward the outside helps condensate leave the unit. If it tilts inward, water can drip indoors, and we adjust or advise on the support.
