LW1424RD
LG LW1424RD Window Unit Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Fan speed response
- Timer start and stop
- Window seal and mounting
- Back drain and slight outward pitch
- Filter and coil cleanliness
The LG LW1424RD is a window air conditioner with a multi-speed fan and a programmable on/off timer. Like other window units, it sits in an open sash or a cut-out, with the coils indoors and the hot side outside.
We keep the first visit simple and thorough. The filter comes out, the coils are inspected, and we look for gaps along the cabinet and side panels that let warm air in. Each fan speed is run in turn, and the timer is set for a short test to confirm it switches the unit on and off.
If water runs inside the room, we check how the unit is pitched and whether the rear drain is open. When a repair needs the unit out of the window, we say so before starting. The model and serial come from the label, we confirm both before ordering any part, and the price is written first.

Why does my window unit freeze up?
Restricted airflow from a dirty filter or matted coils is a common cause. We check airflow, the fan speeds and the thermostat. Freezing can also follow a low-airflow fan speed, so we run the unit across its settings when we test.
Is the timer separate from the thermostat?
On this model the timer starts and stops the unit on a schedule, while the thermostat holds temperature. We test both to find which is off.
What warranty comes with the repair?
Our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty, and you receive a written price before any work. The timer, fan speeds and seal are tested during the visit, so any related problem shows up before we leave.
