LW1817IVSM
LG LW1817IVSM Quiet Window Unit at 1,000 Sq Ft Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Compressor drive and control board
- Fan changes and sound
- ThinQ connection
- Coil loading and icing
- Outlet and window support
Legacy status applies to the LW1817IVSM, an LG window air conditioner at 18,000 BTU for an estimated 1,000 square feet. LG describes energy savings up to 25 percent, LoDecibel quiet operation and ThinQ technology, and it is an older model still in many homes.
In a quiet unit, small changes in sound or cooling stand out. We watch the compressor ramp, listen for fan rattle, and check that the control board reacts to panel changes. A large unit also needs a sound outlet and a solid window mount, so we inspect those too. We read the model and serial from the label before ordering parts, and we put the price in writing before any repair.

How do I know the compressor is ramping properly?
We watch the unit start and settle, and listen for sudden surges or hunting. Irregular behavior points us to the board, the sensors or the compressor.
Does the 25 percent saving still apply on an older unit?
Savings depend on a clean coil and filter and a healthy fan. We cannot promise a figure, but a service visit helps the unit run as intended.
The app shows the unit offline. What do you do?
We test the unit at the panel first, then the Wi-Fi hardware and your connection, and tell you which one needs attention. Either way, you hear the result and the price before we proceed.
