LW5024
LG LW5024 Quiet Window AC Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Noise louder than expected in a bedroom
- Cooling that fades when the weather gets hot
- Unit that will not start on the first try
- Fan speed that does not change
- Water pooling inside the cabinet
The LW5024 is a small LG window air conditioner at 5,000 BTU, listed for rooms up to 150 square feet. It has Low Power Startup, two cooling and fan speeds and an adjustable thermostat, and LG describes its operation as quiet enough for bedrooms and home offices. No heating is listed.
Since it is sold on quiet running, a new rattle matters. We check the fan blade, the motor mounts and loose cabinet panels along with the cooling cycle. Hard starting points us to the start parts and the supply, and fading cooling to the coil and the filter.
We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering parts, and you get the price in writing before we begin.
Key features

Error codes this model can show
My LW5024 got noisier. What is likely?
Most often it is a loose panel, a fan blade that is out of balance or a worn motor mount. We check those before the compressor.
Does it heat?
No. The features listed are cooling only, so winter use is not something this unit is built for. A cold room in winter is simply how a cooling-only unit behaves.
Why does it struggle in a heat wave?
At 5,000 BTU it has limited headroom. On very hot days we check the coil and filter, but a unit that is simply too small for the room will not keep up whatever its condition.
