What Sb means
Sb on an LG refrigerator with an LED or LCD temperature display is Sabbath mode, not an error. On some displays it looks like S6, 5b or 56, which is easy to misread. While the mode is on, the alarms and the dispenser are switched off, and it turns itself off after 96 hours. So if the dispenser has gone quiet and the display shows Sb, the refrigerator is working as designed.
Common causes of Sb
- Sabbath mode was switched on from the control panel
- A button was held by accident, for example while cleaning
- The mode has not yet reached its 96-hour limit
1. Look closely at the display, since Sb can be read as S6, 5b or 56. 2. Press and hold the Freezer and Wi-Fi buttons together for 3 seconds to turn the mode off. 3. Check that the dispenser and alarms respond again. 4. If Sb returns or the buttons do nothing, let us know.
- If the buttons do not release the mode, the control panel may not be registering presses, and that needs a hands-on check.
- If the display shows something different from Sb, the code may be a real error and we would read it on site.
- We quote any repair before starting, and it carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Refrigerator codes
Is Sb on my LG refrigerator an error?
No. Sb is Sabbath mode, which is a setting and not a problem. The refrigerator keeps running, but the alarms and the dispenser are turned off while the mode is active.
How do I turn Sb off?
Hold the Freezer and Wi-Fi buttons together for 3 seconds. The mode also ends by itself after 96 hours if nobody turns it off, so a quiet dispenser is not a lasting problem.
Why does my display say S6 or 56?
On some displays the letters in Sb are hard to tell from S6, 5b or 56. If the dispenser and alarms are quiet, it is almost certainly Sabbath mode.
