What dE4 means
For the LG SideKick pedestal washer, the WD100 and WD200 series installed under a front-load washer, dE4 means the unit was operated without the drawer fully closed. A typical example is a sock caught in the side of the drawer, which holds it open a fraction. The owner sees dE4 and the SideKick refuses to run until the drawer closes completely.
Common causes of dE4
- Laundry item such as a sock caught at the drawer side
- Foreign object in the drawer track
- Drawer sitting slightly out of its closed position
1. Pull the drawer open and look at both sides. 2. Remove any sock or other item caught between the drawer and the cabinet. 3. Check the drawer track for small objects. 4. Push the drawer shut firmly until it is flush. 5. Restart the cycle.
- If the drawer closes cleanly and dE4 still appears, we cannot say whether the closed signal is reaching the control.
- We check the drawer travel and the switch that reports it closed.
Other Washer codes
How does a sock trigger dE4?
A sock caught at the side keeps the drawer open by a small amount. The SideKick senses that the drawer is not fully closed, so it stops and displays dE4.
Is dE4 different from dE2?
Yes. dE4 points to something blocking the drawer from closing. dE2 means the drawer was closed but did not lock, so the checks are not the same.
Is it safe to keep running the SideKick with dE4?
The machine will not run while dE4 stands, which is the purpose of the alert. Clear the blockage first. If the drawer still will not seat, we can look at it.
Still unsure about dE4?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
