What PE, E33 means
PE and E33 report a malfunction of the water-level sensor, the pressure sensor that tells the washer how full the tub is. This applies to LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display and to LG top-load washers with an alphanumeric display. E33 is listed only on the front-load list. The owner sees the code and the washer stops filling or washing because it cannot read the water level.
Common causes of PE, E33
- Pressure sensor reading incorrectly
- Humid installation affecting the sensor
- Sensor wiring or connector
1. Unplug the washer for 10 seconds, or 5 minutes for a top-load washer. 2. Restart the washer. 3. On a top-load washer, consider whether the room is humid, such as a bathroom. 4. Write down whether the tub had water in it when the code appeared. 5. Make sure the power cord is pushed in firmly at the outlet.
- If the code returns after a power-down, the sensor, its tube and the wiring all remain in question.
- We test the sensing circuit and let you know the finding with a written price first.

How long do I unplug the washer for PE?
Front-load washers list 10 seconds. Top-load washers list 5 minutes. Then restart and see whether PE returns. Both are the same water-level problem, and the cycle stops because the washer cannot tell how full the tub is.
Can humidity cause PE?
The top-load list notes that a humid installation, such as a bathroom, can cause it. Moving moisture away is worth considering. A power-down gives the control a fresh start. It will not repair a sensor that keeps misreading.
Is E33 different from PE?
E33 is an alias for the same water-level sensor problem and appears only on the front-load list. Moisture is one known cause, so think about the room. If PE repeats, we test the sensor and its tube.
