Most common issues on this model
- ThinQ connection versus the washer's own panel
- Drain pump and filter
- Inlet valve and dispenser for ColdWash
- Motor, balance and door seal
The WM3420CW is an LG front-load washer with a 4.5 cu. ft. ultra-large drum. It has 6Motion wash motions, ColdWash technology, AI technology that selects wash settings, and the ThinQ app for smart functions and ThinQ Care alerts.
It is usually installed in a laundry room beside a dryer. When an owner reports that the app and the washer disagree, we run a cycle from the panel first, to see whether the problem is the network or the machine. Then we check the drain pump and filter, the inlet and dispenser, and the motor and balance.
Because the AI picks settings, an odd cycle result can be a setting choice rather than a failure, so we run a manual cycle to tell the two apart. We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering parts, give the price in writing first, and cover the work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Error codes this model can show
My app shows an alert but the washer seems fine. What do you check?
We run a cycle from the panel and check drain, fill and balance. The ThinQ Care alerts on this model can point to something real or to a connection issue, and a manual test tells them apart.
What does the AI setting do?
It selects wash settings for the load. If results look off, we compare an AI cycle with a manual one on the same load before replacing any part, so you pay only for a real repair.
The drum is large. Do I need a pedestal checked?
If it sits on one, we check the fit and the level. A 4.5 cu. ft. drum shows balance problems quickly, so leveling is part of our visit whether or not a pedestal is used.
