What Ed2 means
On LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display and the ezDispense automatic dispenser, Ed2 appears when the liquid detergent level did not decrease and the control detects an open circuit in the detergent pump. In plain terms, the electrical path to the pump seems to be broken, not just slow. The WashTower washer half and the WashCombo can show it too. Automatic detergent dosing stops until the condition is cleared.
Common causes of Ed2
- Open electrical path to the detergent pump
- Detergent residue interfering with the pump
- Loose connection in the dispenser area
1. Check the detergent type loaded in the dispenser. 2. Clear residue from the tray. 3. Run another cycle to see whether Ed2 returns. 4. Make sure the tank has detergent in it before you restart. 5. Write down how many cycles it has shown Ed2. 6. Request service if it persists.
- Cleaning the tray does not repair an open circuit, so a returning Ed2 needs electrical testing.
- We check the pump circuit and connections, then explain the options before we replace a part.
Other Washer codes
What is an open circuit in the detergent pump?
It means the control cannot complete an electrical path to the pump. The pump therefore cannot run, and the detergent level never drops. The washer reads the circuit, not the liquid, so a clean tray does not guarantee Ed2 will clear.
Will cleaning the tray fix Ed2?
It is worth doing, since residue is a known factor, but an open circuit usually needs testing. If Ed2 returns, we trace the circuit. Dispenser use affects automatic dosing, so a manual dose may be the workaround until the diagnosis.
Can I still wash while Ed2 is showing?
Dosing by the automatic dispenser is affected. Ask us about the options, and we will give you a written price before work. We repair what the test shows, give the price in writing, and cover the work with a 30-day warranty.
Still seeing Ed2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
