What vS, uS means

vS, also shown as u5 or uS, is a vibration-sensor problem on LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display, including the WashTower washer half and WashCombo, and on LG top-load washers with an alphanumeric display. It can be a contact issue or a sensor malfunction. The owner sees the code and the washer may stop before spinning. The washer may stop before it spins.

vS can appear as u5 or uS on the display. They point to the same vibration-sensor condition. The sensor lets the washer notice shaking, and a poor contact can make it read wrongly.

What is the vibration sensor for?

It lets the washer notice excessive shaking during spin. When it reads wrongly, the washer reports vS. The code can be written two ways, so match what your display shows.

Does an unbalanced load cause vS?

That is a different code, UE. vS is about the sensor itself. If both appear, we check the load and the sensor. If it keeps appearing, we inspect the washer and the sensor, and we give a written price before any repair.
