It is a small memory on the main control board that holds settings the washer needs to run. EE means the control had trouble with that memory. Memory on the board stores settings, and when it cannot be read the washer cannot start a normal cycle.

Will leaving the washer unplugged for 10 minutes fix EE?

Sometimes a long power-down clears a one-time lockup. If EE returns, the main board may be the cause and needs an inspection. A long power-down is a reasonable test, but it will not repair a board that has truly failed.
