What EHE means
This code appears on LG electric, gas, heat-pump, and steam dryers that follow the newer LG error list. EHE means the heater circuit is drawing more electrical current than it should. In some homes that surge is large enough to trip a main fuse or a breaker. The dryer usually stops, shows EHE, and will not heat until the condition is cleared. It is a heating-circuit warning, not a clogged-vent message.
Common causes of EHE
- A heater circuit pulling too much current
- A shorted or leaking heating element
- Wiring or a connection at the heater terminal that has overheated
- A home breaker or fuse that tripped from the surge
1. Unplug the dryer, or switch off its breaker, and wait 60 seconds. 2. Restore power and restart a short cycle. 3. If EHE appears again or the breaker trips again, stop using the dryer. Do not keep resetting the breaker. 4. Keep the area around the dryer clear of lint and clothing while it is off.
- A breaker that trips again means current is still too high, and we measure the heater circuit before deciding what to replace.
- The code does not say whether the element, its wiring, or the board is responsible, so we test each in turn.
- We tell you the written price before we start any repair.
Other Dryer codes
Why did my breaker trip when EHE showed?
EHE means the heater drew too much current, and that can open a fuse or breaker. Repeated resets can overheat wiring, so reset once at most and then call us.
Can a clogged vent cause EHE?
A blocked vent usually causes overheating or long dry times, not an overcurrent reading. Still, cleaning the lint screen and vent is a safe step. If EHE continues, the heater circuit needs testing.
Is EHE the same on gas dryers?
The code belongs to the shared LG list. Gas dryers have a different heat source, so we confirm which heating parts your model uses before testing.
Still seeing EHE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
