What nd means
On LG dryers shown on the blinking-LED error page, nd means a no-drain condition. The dryer collects water from the clothes and cannot send it out. The usual cause is a clogged drain hose or debris filter, or a kinked or crushed vent hose. The cycle may stop early or run with a warning light, and clothes can finish damp. Most of the checks cost nothing.
Common causes of nd
- A clogged debris filter
- A drain hose that is blocked or kinked
- A lint filter packed with lint
- A vent hose that is crushed, or an exterior hood that is blocked
1. Unplug the dryer. Clean the debris filter and make sure it is fully seated. 2. Check the drain hose for a kink or a clog, and clean the lint filter. 3. Look at the vent hose behind the dryer and the exterior hood for crushing or lint, then restart.
- If every hose and filter is clear and nd stays, the drain pump or its water-level sensing needs testing.
- We also check whether the drain path is blocked farther along than you can reach.
Other Dryer codes
What does nd mean on my LG dryer?
It means the dryer has water it cannot drain. Clogged filters or hoses are the usual reason, and they are things you can often check yourself.
Where is the debris filter?
The location depends on the model, so look in the dryer's front or lower area and check your owner's guide. Take care that it is cleaned and reseated fully.
Can a bent vent hose cause nd?
Yes, a kinked or crushed vent hose is one of the usual causes in the list. Straighten it, clear the hood outside, and run a short cycle.
Still seeing nd?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
