What F0 means
On LG dryers, F0 is the older way an error list spelled FO, the lint-filter warning. The dryer is telling you it does not detect the lint filter as properly inserted, and some displays also flash an insert-filter message. The cycle will not run until the filter is seated. A zero and a letter O look alike on the display, which is why both spellings exist. It is a filter-position message, not a failed dryer.
Common causes of F0
- The lint filter is missing or only partly pushed in
- Lint packed around the filter slot
- A filter-detection magnet or sensor that is not being read
1. Pull the lint filter all the way out. 2. Clear the lint from the screen and the slot, then push the filter back in until it seats firmly. 3. Close the door and start the cycle again. 4. Check that the filter is the right one for your dryer and is not cracked.
- If F0 stays on with the filter fully seated, the detection sensor or its wiring is the next thing we check.
- We also look for a lost magnet or a damaged filter holder, which a quick reseat cannot fix.
Other Dryer codes
Is F0 the same as FO on my LG dryer?
Yes. Older code lists write F0 with a zero, newer ones write FO with a letter. Both mean the dryer does not see the lint filter inserted properly.
Why does the dryer stop when the filter is out?
Without a filter, lint can reach the vent and heating area, which is a fire risk. The dryer stops until the filter is detected back in place.
The filter is in but F0 remains. What now?
Take it out and reinsert it once more, then check the slot for lint. If the code stays, the filter sensor needs testing, and we can do that.
Still unsure about F0?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
