Most common issues on this model
- Door lock and latch before the cycle begins
- Water inlet valves for slow or uneven fill
- Spin balance with mixed loads
- Drain pump filter and hose
The WM5500HVA is a current LG front-load washer with a 4.5 cubic feet drum, offered in two finish options. It fits the usual full-size laundry spot in a Houston home: a closet, a garage utility corner or a hall alcove, with a dryer next to it or stacked above.
What we look at first follows from its design. With a Direct Drive motor there is no belt to wear out, so a drum that turns slowly or rattles leads us to the motor and its position sensor, the bearings and the leveling. Load-sensing spin control reads the weight of the wash, so a washer that keeps slowing down near the end of a cycle may be reacting to a bunched load or to a sensor that reads wrong.
A short test cycle shows us the fill, the wash action and the drain. We also clear the pump filter and wipe the door boot, because trapped lint and small items cause many service calls. The model and serial on the label come first, before any part is ordered. You approve a written price before work, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Error codes this model can show
Does the WM5500HVA have a belt?
It is described with a Direct Drive motor in place of a belt-driven transmission. If the drum is noisy or slow, we check the motor, its sensor, the bearings and the load balance.
What size is the WM5500HVA drum?
The listing rates it at 4.5 cubic feet It is sold in two finish options on the same platform, and we match parts to the exact model and serial on your label.
Why does my washer slow down before the spin?
Load-sensing spin control weighs the wash and adjusts speed to keep the drum steady. A bunched load, an unlevel floor or a weak sensor reading can cause it. We test those in that order.
