Most common issues on this model
- Heat that stops short of dry with the Sensor Dry System running
- Drum rotation and the belt path
- Dial-A-Cycle knob and LED display response
- Vent run and lint buildup behind the machine
The DLEC888W is a current LG front load electric dryer with a 4.2 cu. ft. capacity. It has the Sensor Dry System, a NeveRust stainless steel drum and electronic controls with an LED display and a Dial-A-Cycle knob. Being electric, it needs a dedicated 240-volt outlet and no gas line.
With a smaller drum, a vent that is even slightly restricted shows up fast as long cycles or clothes that come out damp. We start with airflow, then move to the heating circuit and the sensor that decides when a load is dry.
If the dial turns but nothing starts, we test the door switch and the control board before touching anything else. We read the model and serial from the label before ordering parts, and you get the price in writing first.

Why does my DLEC888W take two cycles to dry a load?
The most common reason is restricted airflow in the vent. After that we test the heating circuit and the sensor that ends the cycle early. We measure airflow before replacing any part.
What does the Sensor Dry System do?
It senses moisture in the load so the cycle can end when clothes are dry. If it stops too soon or runs too long, we check the sensor contacts and the control board.
The dial turns but the dryer will not start. What do you check?
We begin with the door switch and the start circuit, then look at the control board and the power supply at the outlet. A 240-volt dryer can run its controls on one leg only, so we test both.
