Many homes still run the DLEX4270V, an older LG electric dryer with a 7.4 cu. ft. NeveRust stainless steel drum, 14 drying programs and TrueSteam with a SteamFresh cycle. It was ENERGY STAR qualified and is still in many homes, plugged into a 240-volt outlet and connected to water for steam.
With this many programs, a complaint that the dryer runs the wrong cycle or ends early leads us to the control board and the knob or pad that selects it. A stainless drum is durable, but the rollers and belt underneath still wear, so a rumble or thump gets a hands-on drum check.
Steam cycles depend on the supply hose and valve, which we test separately from the heat. The label gives the exact model and serial, and we read it before ordering a part and quote the price in writing.

Why does my dryer pick a different cycle than I chose?
The selector or the control board may not be reading the input correctly. We test the selector, the board and the wiring between them before replacing anything.
Does the stainless steel drum wear out?
The drum itself is durable. The parts that carry it, such as rollers, belt and idler, are what wear. We spin the drum by hand and inspect them when there is a rumble.
What do I need to look at before calling for a steam problem?
Check that the water hose is connected and the supply valve is open. If steam still does not appear, we test the hose screen and inlet valve at the dryer.
