What Ed1 means

Ed1 is shown on LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display and the ezDispense automatic dispenser, including the washer half of a WashTower and the WashCombo. The washer expected the liquid detergent level to drop during dispensing, and it did not, so it reports a problem with the detergent pump. The owner sees Ed1 on the display, and automatic detergent dosing cannot be trusted until it clears.

Common causes of Ed1

  • Wrong detergent type thickening in the dispenser
  • Residue built up in the tray or pickup path
  • Detergent pump not moving liquid as expected
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Check that the detergent in the tank is the type this dispenser is meant for. 2. Clear residue from the detergent tray. 3. Restart the cycle and see whether Ed1 returns. 4. Look at the detergent level to confirm it is not empty. 5. Request service if it persists.

! Why to stop there
  • If the tray is clean and the correct detergent is loaded, Ed1 leaves the pump and its drive in question.
  • We test whether the pump moves liquid, and we tell you the finding and written price first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
Ed1Ed1 questions
What does Ed1 mean on an ezDispense washer?

The washer saw that the liquid detergent level did not go down when it should have. That points to the detergent pump, so the control stops and shows Ed1. Detergent that is too thick or has dried in the pickup path can keep the level from dropping.

Can the wrong detergent cause Ed1?

Yes, the type of detergent matters, and so does residue in the tray. Those are the first things to check before assuming anything is worn. Watch the tank level over one cycle. If it never drops, tell us, since that is useful to the diagnosis.

Is Ed1 the same as Ed2?

They are related but not identical. Ed1 reports a detergent pump problem, while Ed2 reports an open circuit in that pump, so our tests differ. We check how the pump runs and how the product moves, and we give a written price before any repair.
