LFC28768SB
LG LFC28768SB Linear Compressor Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Compressor start and run behavior with a thermometer test
- Smart Cooling System sensors and fans
- Condenser coils and airflow around the cabinet
- Frost on the freezer evaporator and defrost operation
The LFC28768SB is an older LG French three-door refrigerator of 28 cubic feet. It is a legacy model that many homes still use, with finish variants LFC28768ST and LFC28768SW in the same family. The original listing includes a 10-year limited warranty on the linear compressor, and that warranty is a separate matter from our own repair warranty.
On a refrigerator with a linear compressor, we start with the cooling path. We listen to the compressor, check its start and run pattern, clean and inspect the condenser coils, and test the fans and the sensors behind the Smart Cooling System. The defrost cycle is checked as well, since frost in the freezer can look like a compressor problem.
The model and serial printed on the label decide our parts order. We quote in writing before work begins, and what we repair is guaranteed for 30 days.

What is a linear compressor?
It is the compressor type listed for the LFC28768SB. We test how it starts and runs, and we check the sensors and defrost first, since a warm refrigerator is not always the compressor itself.
Does your repair affect the 10-year warranty?
That warranty belongs to the original sale, and we cannot speak for its terms. Our own work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty, and we give a written price first.
Why do you clean the coils on this type of refrigerator?
Dust on the condenser makes the cooling system work harder and can raise temperatures. A clean coil and clear airflow are the first things we restore before judging any parts.
