LG dishwashers are known for spray arms that reach into the tub from several angles and, on some models, steam or heated drying. They sit under counters where the supply line, drain hose and power cord are all within a few inches of each other.

Houston water carries minerals that leave a film on glass and build up on heating elements and spray holes, and warm, humid kitchens encourage odor in the tub and filter. A storm outage mid-cycle can leave water in the tub until the next drain attempt.

We check the filter and spray arms first, then the inlet valve, circulation and drain pumps, the door latch and gasket, the heater and the drain path to the disposal or air gap. You get the finding, the options and a written price before any part is replaced.

05Dishwasher questions
Why do dishes come out dirty or gritty?

Common causes are a clogged filter, blocked spray arm holes or a weak water supply. Food debris collects in the filter and can recirculate. Clean the filter and spray arms, run the hot water at the sink before starting a cycle, and tell us what happened if it persists.

There is water in the bottom after every cycle. Is the pump broken?

Not necessarily. A kinked drain hose, a clogged filter or a disposal inlet plug left in place can all hold water. We check those before testing the pump, because the simpler causes are far more common.

Is a small puddle at the door dangerous?

Water on the floor should be taken seriously because it can damage cabinets and flooring. Stop using the dishwasher, wipe it up and note where it appears. A worn gasket, a loose fitting or overfilling from a stuck valve could each be involved.
