What Check Filter / Clean Filter indicator means
The Check Filter or Clean Filter indicator on an LG dryer is a reminder to clean the lint filter before each use. It is not an error and does not mean anything has broken. The light goes out on its own when you select a program or press START/PAUSE. Lint builds up quickly and restricts airflow, which makes loads dry slowly, so a clean filter every cycle keeps the dryer working well and cuts the chance of a vent warning later.
Common causes of Check Filter / Clean Filter indicator
- Lint filter due for cleaning
- Lint packed in the filter housing
- Reminder that has not cleared
1. Pull the lint filter out of the dryer. 2. Remove the lint by hand and rinse the mesh if it looks coated. 3. Dry the filter fully and push it back in. 4. Select a program or press START/PAUSE. 5. Check that the indicator goes out.
- If the indicator stays on after you clean the filter, we look at the sensing and the panel.
- Poor drying with a clean filter points to the vent or the heating, not the reminder.
- We confirm normal drying before we finish.

Is the Check Filter light a problem?
No. It is a reminder to clean the lint filter. Clean it before each load and the light goes out when you start a program or press START/PAUSE.
Why does my dryer take so long?
Lint on the filter and in the vent slows the airflow. Clean the filter every time, and if drying stays slow, the vent may need cleaning.
What if the light stays on after I clean it?
Press START/PAUSE or select a program, since that clears it. If it still lights up, the panel may be misreading, and we can look at it.
