What E03 means
On LG dryers with a base water tank, E03 means the float switch has detected that the base of the dryer is full of water. Condensing dryers collect moisture from the clothes in a tank, and when it fills, the dryer stops to avoid an overflow. The code appears with a stopped cycle and damp clothes. The first step is to empty the tank. If it keeps filling quickly, or E03 returns with an empty tank, the drain path or the float switch needs attention.
Common causes of E03
- Drain tank full
- Float switch reading full when it is not
- Drain path that does not empty the base
1. Pull out the drain tank carefully, keeping it level. 2. Empty it into a sink. 3. Unplug the dryer for 60 seconds. 4. Slide the tank back in until it seats, then restart. 5. If E03 comes back, call us.
- With an empty tank and E03, the float switch or the pump path is the next thing to test.
- We check how water moves into and out of the base.
- We run a full cycle and confirm the tank fills normally before we finish.
Other Dryer codes
How often should I empty the tank?
After each cycle is a safe habit on condensing dryers. The tank fills with moisture from the clothes, so a full tank is common. If your dryer fills it faster than you expect, tell us, because the drain path may need a look.
Why does E03 appear with an empty tank?
The float switch may be stuck or reading wrongly, or the base may still hold water. We test both. We test the switch and the way water moves into and out of the base, and give you the price in writing first.
Can I keep using the dryer?
Only after the tank is emptied and the code is gone. Running with E03 can leave water in the base, so stop if it repeats.
Still seeing E03?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
