What E05 means
E05 on an LG steam dryer means there is a problem with the water supply used for the steam cycle. The dryer needs water through its inlet to make steam, and when it does not get enough, the steam cycle stops and E05 shows. The cause can be at the tap, in the hose, at the inlet filter or at the water inlet valve. A frozen tap or a closed valve are common, simple things to check. Regular drying without steam may still work.
Common causes of E05
- Tap closed or frozen
- Inlet hose kinked or loose
- Clogged inlet filter
- Water inlet valve
1. Check that the water tap for the dryer is fully open and not frozen. 2. Look at the inlet hose for kinks and tighten the connection by hand. 3. Check the inlet filter for debris. 4. Restart the steam cycle. 5. If E05 returns, call us.
- With water at the tap and a clear hose, the inlet valve is next.
- We check the filter, the valve and the water pressure at the dryer.
- We run a steam cycle and confirm steam before we finish.

Can I still dry without steam?
Often yes. E05 refers to the steam water supply. If you skip steam, the regular cycles may still run. Try one and see. If regular drying works but steam does not, tell us when you call, since that points us to the water path.
Where is the inlet filter?
It sits where the inlet hose meets the dryer. Shut off the water, remove the hose, and check the filter for debris. Do not force anything.
What if E05 comes back after I check everything?
Then the inlet valve may not be opening. We test it and give you a written price first. We check the inlet filter, the valve and the water pressure, and give you the price in writing first.
Still seeing E05?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
