What LE3 means

On LG electric, gas, heat-pump, and steam dryers, LE3 reports a problem with the motor that circulates air through the dryer. Without that airflow the dryer cannot move heat across the clothes or push moist air out, so it stops the cycle and shows LE3. The newer LG list says this one cannot be resolved by simple troubleshooting, so the checks are short and the repair is hands-on.

Common causes of LE3

The air-circulation motor not running
A connection or wire to that motor that is loose
A motor start circuit that is not supplying power
Lint or debris restricting the blower area

✓ One safe check you can try

1. Unplug the dryer and wait one minute. 2. Plug it back in and run a cycle. 3. If LE3 comes back, stop using the dryer. Cleaning the lint screen and vent hood first is a safe extra step. 4. Keep the dryer door open afterward so the drum can air out.

! Why to stop there

LE3 does not tell us whether the motor, its wiring, or the control is the problem, so we test the circuit at the motor.
Blower restrictions can mimic a motor stop, and we rule that out before replacing a part.

Is LE3 the same as LE1?

No. LE1 is the drum motor. LE3 is the motor that circulates air, so the drum may turn normally while airflow is missing. A heavy load is more typical for LE1 than for LE3.

Can I clear LE3 myself?

A one-minute unplug is worth trying. The list notes simple troubleshooting does not resolve it, so a repeat code means we need to test the motor. Clearing lint from the screen and vent is still worth doing.

Does a dirty vent cause LE3?

A clogged vent mostly causes long dry times, but it is still a good thing to clean. If LE3 continues afterward, the motor circuit is the next stop. If the code repeats, the checks you can do at home are finished.
