Most common issues on this model
- Steam supply hose, screen and inlet valve
- Vent run and lint screen
- Heating element and thermostats
- Door switch and hinge when the dryer will not run
- Rollers, belt and idler check
The DLEX5170V is an ultra-large-capacity electric steam dryer with a Wrinkle Care option. The platform is sold in two finishes, and on most models the door can be hung on either side.
When someone calls about this dryer, the first question is whether the problem is in the dry cycle or the steam cycle. Dry-cycle trouble follows the standard path of vent, element and sensors. Steam trouble starts at the cold water connection, where a closed valve or clogged screen is common.
If you changed the door swing at some point, we also look at the door switch, since a misaligned strike can stop the dryer from starting. We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering any parts, and we give a written price before work begins.

What if the steam cycle does nothing?
Check that the cold water valve is open and the hose is not kinked. If so, we test the screen and inlet valve, which are the two usual causes.
Why will the dryer not start after I switched the door?
The door switch may not be pressed by the latch in its new position. We adjust the strike and test the switch, which fixes the problem in most cases.
Do I need to run steam cycles regularly?
Not for the machine's sake. If it sits unused, a small amount of scale can form in the valve, so we flush it when we inspect the supply line.
