What d r n, OE means
On LG dryers that collect water in a container or drain it through a hose, d r n or OE means the dryer stopped because water cannot leave properly. The container may be full, the drain hose may be kinked or pressed, or the drain pump may be filled with air. This applies to condensing and hybrid dryers and to the dryer half of a WashTower. Some models have no drain hose. The cycle stops and clothes are left damp.
Common causes of d r n, OE
- Water container that is full or not seated
- Drain hose kinked or pressed
- Drain pump filled with air
- Hose routed too high
1. Empty the water container and push it back in until it is fully seated. 2. Straighten the drain hose. Keep its top no higher than 1 meter, about 3 feet. 3. Run Air Dry to drain residual water. 4. Restart the dryer. 5. If it stops again after 10 to 20 minutes, call us.
- After the container and hose are cleared, a repeat stop points to the drain pump or its path.
- We check the hose route, the pump, and how water leaves the tank.
- We run a full cycle and watch the drain before we finish.
Other Dryer codes
Do all LG dryers have a drain hose?
No. Some models have no drain hose and use a water container only. If your dryer has a container, empty and reseat it first. Look at the back of your dryer to see whether a hose is connected, and tell us if you are not sure which type you have.
What is Air Dry for?
It helps drain residual water so the dryer can start again. Use it after you empty the container and straighten the hose. If the dryer stops again after 10 to 20 minutes, the drain pump or hose path needs a hands-on test from us.
Does this apply to a WashTower?
Yes, the dryer half can show d r n or OE for the same reasons. Check the container and the hose on that half first.
Still seeing d r n, OE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
