What E13 means
E13 appears on LG hybrid condensing dryers only. It means the drain hose is kinked, crushed or clogged, or that the water in the sump has frozen. The dryer cannot pump out the water it collects, so it stops. A cold location such as an unheated garage can freeze the sump, which is why the code often shows up in winter. The hose and its routing are easy to check, and the freeze clears when the room warms.
Common causes of E13
- Drain hose kinked or crushed
- Clog in the hose
- Frozen water in the sump
- Non-standard hose that restricts flow
1. Check the drain hose along its length for kinks and crushing. 2. Use only the standard LG drain hose. 3. Warm the room if it is cold, so any ice melts. 4. Press START/PAUSE to restart. 5. If E13 returns, call us.
- With a clear hose and a warm room, a repeat points to the drain pump or its path.
- We check the hose, the sump and the pump.
- We run a full cycle and watch the water leave before we finish.
Other Dryer codes
Is E13 on all LG dryers?
No. It applies only to hybrid condensing models. Other dryers use different codes for drain and vent problems. If your dryer is a different type and shows E13, tell us the model so we can check what the code means.
Can the cold cause E13?
Yes. If the water in the sump freezes, the dryer cannot drain. Warm the room and the ice will melt, then restart. Moving the dryer to a warmer spot prevents repeats, and if E13 stays after the thaw, we check the drain pump.
Why use only the standard drain hose?
A different hose can restrict flow or kink more easily. The standard hose is made for this dryer, so using it avoids a common cause of E13.
Still seeing E13?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
