What CL means

CL on LG front-load and top-load washers with an alphanumeric display, and on the SideKick pedestal washer, is not an error code. It shows that the child or control lock is active, and the other buttons will not respond while it is on. On front-load models the lock is held for 3 seconds, and some use a two-button combination. A WashTower or WashCombo washer uses the same message, so a locked panel is the usual explanation.

Is CL an error on my LG washer?

No. CL means the child or control lock is on. The washer is fine, and the lock only keeps the other buttons from responding until you release it.

How do I turn CL off?

On front-load models, press and hold the child-lock button for 3 seconds, or the two-button combination some models use. On top-load, hold Control Lock for 3 seconds.

Does CL also appear on the SideKick?

Yes. The SideKick pedestal washer uses CL the same way, to show the lock is active. Release it from the panel to use the buttons again, as with the main washer.
