Most common issues on this model
- Steam heating and inlet
- Door boot, glass and latch
- Drain pump filter and hose
- Spin balance with large loads
- Control response and cycle progress
The WM8500HVA is an older LG front load steam washer with a 5.2 cubic foot mega capacity drum and an ENERGY STAR qualification.
On a washer with steam, we check that the water supply and heating work as the cycle expects, then clear the drain pump filter and inspect the door boot. Larger loads mean longer wet spins, so noise and vibration lead us to the feet, the suspension and the bearing. If a cycle stops partway, the latch and the control response are quick tests.
We confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering anything. A written price comes first, and our workmanship is covered for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
What is the capacity of this washer?
It is 5.2 cubic feet. A drum that size is often installed in a dedicated laundry room, and we check the drain height and floor stability there.
Does steam need special water?
It needs a good household water supply and a working heater. If steam output is weak or the cycle seems cold, we check the water flow first, then the heating and the control response.
My washer shakes with big loads. Is that normal?
Some movement can come from an unbalanced load, but strong shaking is worth a look. We check the feet and the load, then the suspension and bearing.
